13th Annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival
Happy Lunar New Year! 2012 is the year of the Dragon and New York is celebrating with one of the most festive, colorful and cultural parades of the year. Join over 5,000 people as they celebrate the Chinese New Year at the 13th Annual Chinatown Lunar New Year Parade & Festival this Sunday, January 29th from 11:30am to 4:00pm at Canal Street South. Starting at Mott Street, the parade and its ornate floats, dancers and acrobats will march through the streets of Chinatown complete with dragon dances, musicians and more! Special guests in this year's parade include the cast of Broadway's Chinglish now playing at the Longacre Theatre.
That's not all, at the conclusion of the parade, the celebration continues on Bayard Street as the outdoor festival begins. Enjoy an abundance of vendors, food and performances by muscians, dancers and martial artists! Don't forget to leave with a souvenir as Chinatown merchants will be running plenty of holiday promotions! Happy shopping and enjoy a nice Sunday out in the city!
